Meet CFSTMA

Our Vision:

To provide safe, playable, and aesthetically pleasing sports surfaces for all users.

Our Mission:

To give members a vehicle to network with industry peers for education purposes to develop the theory and understanding of sports turf management and advance the art and science of managing that process. The chapter will accomplish this purpose, operate exclusively without profit and in cooperation with the national Sports Field Management Association and shall not take any public position contrary to that of the association.

It’s the Perfect Fit

Central Florida Sports Turf Managers Association members are local sports turf professionals who share practical and research based maintenance practices to maintain high quality and safe playing fields.  CFSTMA is one of three Chapters in the State, with the North and South Chapters. All State Chapters have reciprocal memberships agreements. Joining one Chapter allows participation in all State Chapters.  The State Chapters are affiliates of the national Sports Turf Managers Association.  Joining the national STMA doesn’t entitle membership to the State Chapters.

CFSTMA in Action

Member Spotlight - Certified Sports Field Managers

Stephen Wood, CSFM , Sports Turf Manager with the City of Ocala for a little over nine years.  I came from the golf course industry, being a Superintendent for over 20 years.   The City of Ocala has eight sport facilities located across the city.  Sizes range from a single youth baseball field to multi field complexes.   Membership and participation in the CFSTMA is very important for many reasons.  Educational, sharing experiences with other members, visiting other sites, and keeping current with the industry, are just a few that’s comes to mind.  I believe membership is so important that I include our entire sport turf staff.

Daniel Thomas, CSFM - Head Groudskeeper for the Baltimore Orioles Spring Training at Ed Smith Stadium & Buck O"Neil Complex. "Becoming a CSFM isn’t just another feather in the cap.  It signifies all of the hard work and dedication to our craft.  It is something to be very proud of as a leader in the industry.  Through the STMA and regional chapters such as the Central Florida STMA, we are given an outlet to teach and lead others starting out in the world of sports turf.”

Dave Nowakowski

David Nowakowski, CSFM - Territory Manager at Harrell's, LLC.  The Sports Turf Industry is a special group of professionals. It is one where all are willing to share ideas and help fellow Sports Turf Managers. CFSTMA brings together all of these managers to share ideas, visit different types of sites and learn from University Professors and Industry Professionals. Being in the Sports Turf/Green Industry for 20+ years, I have always felt in order to further our Sports Turf Profession, having more Certified Sports Turf Managers in the work force is imperative.  Becoming a CFSM is not a credential to add to your resume, it is a responsibility to increase the professionalism of our industry.
